Proved at Folkingham on the sixth day of the month of February 1587/88***** before Master Thomas Randes, Commissary and Official of the Archdeaconry of Lincoln, and the burden of execution of the said will was granted to the executor named above, who was sworn in form of law.ADDED:
Regarding the name pepp(er) – I have transcribed all four this way on the basis of Roger pepp(er)’s surname, which clearly begins with a p.
In some C16th hands the character which begins (for example) katherine’s surname is read as an r.
So the case is strongest for pepp(er) but don’t discount the small possibility of repp(er) for three of the four.astricke = a strike
Cott = Coat, I think, rather than Colt* could be Nadem
** could be Sannder
*** quies looks like a plural form of quy, an alternative spelling of kye = cow. So, 2 cows.**** the usual ending is … with other me(n), but others seems to end in -s here, so I’m uncertain about the last word.
